How to
Pick Out a
Wedding Cake
by Elaine's Cake Boutique
Choosing the perfect wedding
cake is just as important as all the other aspects of the perfect wedding.
Most weddings have a central theme geared around the chosen location, time
of year, and sometimes a favorite pastime of the about-to-be-wed couple.
The cake should fall into the theme and become a focal point of the decor.
Choose the design of your cake around the type of wedding you are
planning, for example:
For a Garden Wedding, consider a basket weave design (pictured above) with
fresh flowers cascading down. A Gazebo placed at the top of a tier cake is
stylish, or you might even have the entire cake made into a Gazebo.
A Beach Wedding cake can reflect the seaside by decorating with sea shells
made from white chocolate and dolphins as the central ornament.
A Winery Wedding is exciting
and the cake can enhance the ambience by displaying a cluster of fresh
frosted grapes.
A Modern Wedding needs a cake that has modern
'lines' to it. Each tier has its own pillar with designs like up-side-down
"L's, zig-zags or diamond shapes.
Formal Weddings held inside churches usually stick to traditional 3 or 4
tier cakes with the traditional bride and groom top, (pictured above).
With clever tops to choose from such as Military, Western, crystal
light-ups in all styles, florals, bells ethnic, precious moments, to birds
and animals; cakes can reflect just about any them imaginable.
A good cake designer can work from your ideas or drawings or will be able
to show photos of cakes they have done. They will suggest colors, themes,
fillings and designs to help you make your special day the best ever.
Leaving the cake to an expert is one of the best things you can do for
yourself during this busy planning time.
