Tulare, CaliforniaTulare, California
Located in the Central Valley region of California

Tulare, California
Tulare is nestled in the central San Joaquin Valley of California off of US Hwy. 99, and is just 45 miles south of Fresno and 60 miles north of Bakersfield. This mid-state location allows local businesses a one-day access to major commercial markets as well as visitors and residents the recreational opportunities of the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains to the east, and the majestic Pacific Ocean to the west.

Founded in 1872, by the Southern Pacific Railroad as a headquarters for the valley, the area faced extreme hardship in 1891 as the railroad moved its depot to Bakersfield. However, the region turned to agriculture by erecting an elaborate canal system to supply water from the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Today, agriculture remains the mainstay of the city’s economic livelihood with the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas being less than a four hour drive, or by rail on the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad that runs through Tulare, providing access to all major cities in the country.

Tulare has a charming downtown district that offers all the big city amenities, fine dining, shopping and more. The town is rich with art featuring an outdoor exhibit of murals, and hosting a number of visual and performing art events throughout the year. Residents and visitors can enjoy a round of golf, bike or horse ride the five mile Santa Fe Trail, relax or enjoy sporting activities at one of the 12 city parks, or visit museums to learn about Tulare heritage and agricultural climate.

Featuring its agricultural heritage, Tulare is host to the world's largest agricultural exposition which draws over 100,000 visitors from over 60 countries, and the California Antique Farm Equipment Show. Other annual events include the Great Western Livestock Show, the Max Chobian Road Race, Tulare Palette Club Spring Art Show, Cars on the ‘K’ Car Show, The Best in the Valley Quilt Show, Annual Watte Memorial Golf Tournament, the Tulare County Fair and Parade, and Children’s Christmas Parade.
