Mountain
Bike San Francisco &
The Bay Area
From Mountain Biking’s origins on Mount Tamalpais, to the
mountain biker-inspired trail systems in many of the
region’s parks, the San Francisco Bay Area has an incredible
wealth of terrain to explore. In the book ‘Mountain Bike San
Francisco & The Bay Area’ passionate cyclist Skye Kraft has
selected 40 different rides ranging from an easy loop in
Lake Chabot Regional Park to Middle Ridge and Gazos Creek
Loop in Big Basin Redwoods State Park.
“No matter
what kind of riding you’re looking for, the Bay area has
it,” author Skye Kraft says in the book’s preface. Many of
the rides are easily accessible using the Bay Area’s
extensive public transportation network, and all of the
rides feature some form of incredible California scenery or
other treasure.
Whether you are an experienced rider looking for a ride to
test both endurance and technical ability, or a new rider
looking for a good park to learn the sport without investing
too much in terms of money, sanity, or skin, ‘Mountain Bike
San Francisco & The Bay Area’ will help riders find it. Even
veteran San Franciscans will find themselves surprised at
the number of great loops and shuttle runs unbeknownst to
them until now. After a broad tour of the Bay Area’s
mountain bike playgrounds, you’ll know firsthand that
Northern California truly is the mecca of mountain biking,
and that the Bay Area is the center of it all.
