About Jerome, Arizona

Home to about 450 residents, Jerome sits at an elevation of 5,200 feet in north central Arizona, near Sedona. Once known as the wickedest town in the west, Jerome was founded in 1876, primarily for mining. At its peak, there were over 15,000 people, and copper was the number one ore. After the war, copper mining declined rapidly and less than 200 people were left in town. Preserving its historical structures, Jerome was declared a National Historic District in 1967.
Today, Jerome is a bustling tourist and artistic community boasting exceptional scenery and photographic landscapes. Only 3 hours away, The Grand Canyon makes a great day trip from Jerome.
