About Heber-Overgaard, Arizona
Nestled in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, Heber-Overgaard is part of the famous Mogollon Rim, a 7,000 foot plateau stretching nearly 200 miles across central Arizona. From just southwest of Flagstaff to the eastern edge of the White Mountains, this large plateau-rim region is well known for its stands of Ponderosa pines, boasting the largest in the US; mountain lakes; and hundreds of miles of maintained trails. The area’s 2,700 residents enjoy median temperatures that seldom exceed 85 degrees, making it a majestic and scenic place to go, especially for those escaping the intense desert heat. Settled in the late 1800’s, by people of the Mormon faith, Heber-Overgaard was a predominately logging and ranching community until the late 1900’s. Today, it is a popular destination with outdoor activities that include golf, hiking, camping, and fishing at the five nearby recreational fishing lakes.
