Featuring over 2,500 species of high-elevation plants, the Arboretum at Flagstaff features one of the nature largest collections of high-country wildflowers. Here one can learn about the plants and animals that are native to the world’s largest Ponderosa Pine Forest, and explore several miles of trails through alpine meadows, cool pine forests, cultivated gardens, and experimental greenhouses beneath the shadows of the San Francisco Peaks.

There are a number of gardens to experience including an Herb Garden, Butterfly Garden, Water Conservation Garden, Shade Garden, Wildflower Garden, Perennial Spring Garden, Constructed Wetlands Garden, Mixed Conifer Garden, Children’s Garden, and demonstration gardens such as the Turf and Groundcover Garden, Meadow Grass Garden, and Penstemon Garden.

 The Arboretum at Flagstaff is a botanical garden, research station, and environmental education center with a mission to increase the understanding, appreciation, and conservation of plants and plant communities native to the Colorado Plateau.

Open from April through October, The Arboretum features daily guided tours, and a daily raptor program featuring wild birds of prey demonstrations. Group tours can be scheduled, and there are special field trips and school group programs. The Arboretum is host to a number of classes and workshops on gardening and natural history, as well as a full calendar of special events.
