Cut,
Color, Couture!
Summer Camp Creates a
Passion for Fashion
Budding Fashion Designers Find
an Outlet for Creativity
Cut, Color, Couture! is a summer
day camp for children with a
passion for fashion. Intended
for children ages 9-12, Cut,
Color, Couture! attendees will
create unique garments
while learning new skills.
While attending the camp,
students will create two
t-shirts, one bag and a pair of
flip-flops. Students will be
able to dye one t-shirt to a
color of their choosing. They
will also choose the style and
color of their bag. To make
their items unique, the students
will be cutting, dyeing, sewing
and embellishing these items.
Cut, Color, Couture! is designed
to be project-oriented, and
students will leave camp with
the finished mini-ensemble they
will create. As part of the
camp, students will also have a
fashion field trip and an
inspiring trip to nature.
Cut, Color, Couture! is now
registering for this summer.
Two camp sessions are available,
and each session is two weeks
long.
Only twelve spots are available
for each session.
Session 1: June 21 - July 2
Session 2: July 5 - July 16
Each session will end with a
glamour day complete with
makeup, hair, and manicures, as
well as a photo shoot with
Glamour Shots, if desired.
“This
will be a fun learning
experience for young kids who
want to know more about fashion
design,” says Nicole Lovelace,
camp director.
Cut, Color, Couture! camps will
be held at the Maryland Academy
for Couture Arts in
Timonium, Maryland.
Ella Pritsker created the
Maryland Academy for Couture
Arts after a successful career
in couture fashion. She began
her couture business and gained
a following with her ELLA MODA
line and was named Baltimore’s
Best Custom Couture by BALTIMORE
Magazine in 2001. Pritsker grew
up in Soviet Russia and learned
the art of custom couture in
Austria and Italy before
immigrating to the United
States.
