‘Sing
Out America’ Program features
San Diego Symphony Orchestra Fallbrook Music
Society's 23rd Annual Symphony 'Pops' on the Green
will feature a special engagement of the San Diego
Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, August 14 before an
audience seated lakeside on the stunning
grounds of the beautiful Grand Tradition Estate
in Fallbrook.
For more than 22 years, Fallbrook Music Society has
brought the thrill of live symphony performances to
Fallbrook in the summer Symphony "Pops" on the Green
concert. This year's event on Thursday, August 14
is no exception, and the evening features a special
engagement by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra with
a program that promises to be one of the best ever,
with selections from some of the most familiar music
in an inspiring evening of American Pops.
The program will begin as members of Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post #1924 march to the stage and
conduct a Color Guard Flag Presentation before an
audience seated lakeside on the grounds of the
stunning Grand Tradition Estate in Fallbrook. As
the San Diego Symphony Orchestra plays each military
service anthem in the Armed Forces Salute, the flag
representing that service will be lowered. The
National Anthem will immediately follow. America
the Beautiful and John Philip Sousa's rousing Stars
and Stripes Forever will conclude the evening. In
between these favorite Patriotic pieces will be an
exciting exploration of classic and Americana
music. The first half of the program features
pieces familiar to many: Over the Rainbow, Come Rain
or Come Shine, Caravan and A Gift to be Simple from
Appalachian Spring.
The
second half of the program combines some of
America's most familiar and dynamic melodies, Main
Titles from Star Wars, Henry Mancini's arrangement
of La Bamba, Turn the Beat Around, Let It Be and one
of the most famous songs from musical theater, Music
of the Night from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of
the Opera." "Great artists, great music, and this
great orchestra uniquely come together in a
performance designed to appeal to all segments of
our audience," said Brenda Montiel, President of
Fallbrook Music Society. "Following last summer's
very successful event, we want fans of all types of
music to experience the power of a live symphony
concert. This annual summer concert gives area
residents an opportunity to hear this remarkable
symphony orchestra live, and right in their own
backyard," she added.
This year, the orchestra will be under the baton of
Randall Craig Fleischer. Vocalist Doug LaBrecque
will also be on hand to delight the audience with
his renditions of "This is the Moment, "Let It Be,"
and "Come Rain or Come Shine and "Over the
Rainbow." Mr. LaBrecque is an active concert
performer, and he has been a soloist with some of
the world's finest symphony orchestras including The
National Symphony, The Chicago Symphony and the
Israel Philharmonic, among others.
For this delightful evening under the stars,
complete BBQ picnic dinners will be provided by
Sweet Lumpy's BBQ of Temecula. Dinners include a
choice of BBQ seasoned beef, pulled pork or smoked
chicken, coleslaw, potato salad and baked beans,
