 The Jeffrey B. Graham Perspectives on Ocean Science Lecture Series provides concise, comprehensive presentations on climate change and other research conducted worldwide by scientists from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Scripps scientists are exploring Earth's mysteries in hundreds of research projects under way on every continent. Learn about science at Scripps and join researchers on their paths to discovery.

Monday, July 14: ‘Global Warming, Insurance Premiums & Top Models: The Whole Story’: Presented by Guillermo Auad. Scientists' findings and projections about the future of Earth's climate are making headlines in the news more than ever before. How are these projections made? Join climate-modeling expert Guillermo Auad as he explains the various kinds of models that researchers use to understand and forecast climate scenarios and how this science has impacts well outside of the research community. Held from

Monday, August 11: ‘The Power of Ocean Waves’: Presented by Richard Seymour. Ocean waves not only provide recreation, aesthetic enjoyment and an occasional rearrangement of our shorelines, but can potentially be tapped as a source for cleaner energy. Join Richard Seymour as he describes his research on how climate variability impacts the "wave climate" of the North Pacific Ocean. Learn how scientists and engineers are combining expertise to harness waves as a source for renewable electric energy production.

Lectures The lectures are intended for a lay audience. Birch Aquarium admission and parking are included. Light refreshments will be served.
