A New Non Partisan Plan for Selecting Representatives

When citizens see Congress passing laws that are contrary to the majority of citizens, continuing with earmarks, after promising to stop them, a stimulus bill to create jobs that provide no lasting benefit, at a cost of over $300,000 per “job,” a health care plan that raises taxes in a recession, raises health care premiums, and will reduce the quality of care, and an energy bill that will raise taxes, and dramatically increase the cost of energy, as well as everything we buy, it’s no wonder the approval numbers are only 24%. But these same leaders are reelected 95% of the time.

Tim Cox, a former leader at Dell, saw these problems and realized the underlying causes are special interests and lobbyists who have completely taken over our political system, leading our leaders to pass laws directly in conflict with the interests of the people of the United States. The election laws, political funding, and the two-party system, make it almost impossible for citizen candidates to run for office.

Cox left his successful career to come up with a practical, non-partisan solution where everyday citizens can successfully run for office and replace every member of the House of Representatives in the upcoming 2010 elections. In his book, “Revolution! A New Plan for Selecting Representatives, Get Out of Our House!,” he proposes a new system for selecting true citizen representatives, without party affiliation or special interest money.

“The people of America are thoroughly disgusted with politics and politicians,” says Cox. “This is our opportunity to elect true citizen representatives and retake control of our government – just as our Founding Fathers intended.”

He has established a website, www.goooh.com  (which stands for “Get Out of Our House,” and is pronounced “go”) where people can find more information, and sign up to help. The GOOOH system is bi-partisan and does not favor any particular political position. It allows the people of each district to select and then elect everyday Americans who are true representatives of their locale, independent of political party, special interests and campaign funding conflicts. GOOOH nominees will be sufficiently funded to compete in the 2010 national Congressional election, against Republican and Democratic candidates. Cox’s innovative system has already raised a number of eyebrows. With more than 35,000 members, 85,000 watchers, and 600,000 Web site visitors, the plan is on track for the next election.

“The concept is exceptionally bold but amazingly simple. Many will be skeptical because they are not willing to believe that such a change is even possible,” Cox says. “This system allows common citizens to actively participate in a process that has the potential to change everything they dislike about the current political system. If our countrymen are brave enough to do things differently, the plan will succeed. If they are afraid to challenge the system, nothing will change.”

Tim Cox is now traveling across the country, meeting with planners and organizing each Congressional district.
